Christmas at Luther concert

It will leave you speechless.

Each December, thousands of individuals clamor for a ticket to one of the most beautiful and memorable college Christmas festivals around. Broadcast on television and radio stations nationally each year, the Christmas at Luther concert is a chance for our students to share the gift of music with others. The concert is simply one of many opportunities for our talented musicians to sound the trumpets, bang the drums, strike the chords, and lift their voices. It’s sure to leave you speechless!

With seven choirs, three bands, three orchestras, two jazz bands, and nearly 1,000 student musicians on campus, it’s easy to become surrounded by the incredible musical tradition at Luther. And at Luther, participation in that musical tradition occurs within the context of a liberal arts curriculum, not as an experience separated from it.

For students who decide to major in music, the college’s program offers a breadth and depth of experience that will better prepare them for the varied careers they will assume when they leave Luther.

For students who are not music majors, the ability to continue to participate in musical ensembles of the highest quality—in addition to majoring in another discipline—provides a rich educational experience that is truly special.

Music, along with dance, theatre, and the visual arts, plays a prominent role in the lives of our students and the life of the campus—it’s the arts that help us define what it means to be human!
